About Not Shockboxx

Not Shockboxx is a contemporary art gallery in Hermosa Beach, California, showing bold, thought-provoking work from emerging and established artists across Los Angeles and the United States.

Located in the Cypress Arts District at on Cypress, the gallery is just 300 square feet—intentionally small, pitch black walls, highly curated, and built for impact. Each exhibition brings together a dense, layered mix of artwork across mediums, creating an immersive experience where visitors engage with the work up close.

Not Shockboxx is owned and operated by Jessica Accamando and Ashley Tull, with Gallery Manager Carin O’Hara. In August 2025, they took over the historic Shockboxx Gallery from gallerist Michael Collins. While the vision has evolved, the mission remains: to represent and sell art that pushes limits, challenges expectations, and creates space for artists doing meaningful work.

Next door is The Studio, a creative flex space and musician’s paradise—also owned by Jessica and Ashley—serving as a hub for performances, gatherings, and artistic crossover that extends the energy of the gallery beyond its walls.

The gallery produces approximately one exhibition per month, ranging from curated group shows and open calls for artists to solo exhibitions, guest curations, Artsy online-only shows, and collaborations with other galleries in the Hermosa Beach Arts District. Each show brings a new perspective, and gallery hours vary by exhibition—visitors are encouraged to check individual show details before attending.

Not Shockboxx regularly hosts open calls for artists, most often through CallForEntry.org (CaFÉ), creating accessible opportunities for artists to submit work and be considered for exhibitions. Shows feature a wide range of mediums including painting, photography, sculpture, textile and fiber art, digital work, film, and mixed media.

The gallery has exhibited work from artists across the country and is proud to feature gallery artists such as Leigh Witherell, Anjalè Perrault, andJames Frost, alongside a rotating roster of new and returning contributors.

Beyond exhibitions, Not Shockboxx supports artists through the Backboxx Artist Society, a program focused on ongoing visibility, connection, and professional growth. The gallery also expands into the community through initiatives like the MiniBoxx, a rotating micro-gallery installation placed in local Hermosa Beach businesses.

The space is also home to a weekly partnership with Flutterspace, a yoga collective that hosts classes inside the gallery—bringing movement, mindfulness, and a different kind of energy into the environment.

Not Shockboxx is part of the evolving South Bay and Los Angeles art scene, offering collectors a place to discover and purchase original artwork while connecting directly with artists and ideas that feel current and personal.
